Get ready to turn back in time as you venture into the village of Elsah.  Nestled in a valley between two stately bluffs, Elsah peeks out to those driving on the Byway.  Often referred to as a "New England-style," the village is graced with clusters of stone cottages and tidy gardens that have remained virtually unchanged since its beginnings. 

Known as "the town time forgot," Elsah truly captures the historic and scenic qualities of the byway.  The village was the first in its entirety to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Today, the village retains its historical flavor and is a favorite spot for photographers looking for a picture perfect glimpse of early Americana, as well as travelers interested in a leisurely stroll.
